Adult supervision is required

CulinaPlay utensils are designed for children's kitchen activities with an adult present. Please supervise children whenever the kit is in use.

Recommended ages

The Little Chef Kit is designed to grow with your child, from around 18 months to 8+ years, with knives for different stages. Every child develops at their own pace, so let their interest and ability guide progression.

  • 18 months to 2 years: start with the wooden knife for soft foods such as bananas, strawberries and cooked vegetables. Adult supervision is essential.
  • 2 to 3 years: introduce the smaller nylon knives, with guidance.
  • 3 to 5 years: move to the larger serrated nylon knives.
  • 5 to 8 years: the full set becomes their toolkit.

Materials

  • Knife blades: food-grade nylon with serrated edges, designed for cutting fruit and vegetables.
  • Wooden knife: smooth, splinter-free hardwood with rounded edges.
  • Handles: shaped for small hands, with non-slip surfaces.
  • Cutting board: BPA-free, food-safe plastic with a non-slip base.
  • Peeler and slicer: protective guards and rounded blade edges.

All materials are free from BPA, phthalates and lead.

Care and cleaning

Hand wash all pieces with warm soapy water after each use. Keep the wooden knife out of the dishwasher to prevent warping, and air dry everything thoroughly before storing.

Good practice in the kitchen

  • Check every piece before each use and stop using any item that is damaged or broken.
  • Cut food into sizes that suit your child's age and ability.
  • Keep the work area clear and stable, and stay within arm's reach.
